This page links to each month of our
Programme and to other special events. The Events page
gives additional information on their organisation, costs etc.
We
have regular mid week and Sunday walks, ranging in length from five to fifteen
miles. There are also occasional Saturday and evening walks. Walks
are most often circular, but we endeavour to have a selection of figures 8's and
linear walks using cars or public transport. Feel free to join in just half a
figure 8. Lunch is often taken at or near a pub for convenience; sometimes
we have a picnic in the wilds of nowhere. Further
information can be obtained from the leader of each day’s walk.
We
enjoy organising weekends away to different parts of the country to sample the
joys of mountain and moor. See the Events or Diary page for more information on these. We are getting even
more adventurous having spent two weeks touring and walking in the wilds of
Alaska, see the Gallery page for a taste of this.
RA Members and non-members alike are very welcome to come along and join us on
any of these walks, but you should consider joining the RA if you plan to come on more
than a couple of walks.
Walk
Leading and Planning
We
are always looking for more people to take up the challenge of planning
and leading a walk. The challenge is not that difficult as there
is plenty of advice and guidance to be had from fellow leaders or
committee members There is guidance available in the
Walk Planning section that covers planning and leading a walk and how to
present the details for the programme. From time to time map
reading courses are arranged, check the events section for
announcements.
If
you are a regular leader or a newcomer taking up the gauntlet it is of great help to the Ramble Secretary to plan and submit your walks
early. Feel free to call the Ramble
Secretary or any other committee member for advice. Use the
form in your programme or print out the attached Walk
Planner template and post it on.
Footpath
Problems. Make a note of the problems and fill in as much
as you can on the attached form and
send to the Footpath Secretary. Details and address are in your
printed programme.
