10:30 Chipping Ongar Lorry Park for a pleasant country walk to Greensted Church. Take the A113 from Chigwell, through to Chipping Ongar. At the beginning of Chipping Ongar High Street, just after a roundabout, turn left into Greensted Road and immediately opposite the Two Brewers’ pub is the Lorry Park. Parking is free. We will visit Greensted Church – 11th Century log church - and we will also pass the cottage where two of the Tolpuddle Martyrs lived on their return home from Australia. 09:00 Starts at the junction of Forest Drive and Capel Road, near Manor House Station (TQ419860) and will be marked this year with a tribute to Fred Matthews who, with Harry Bitten was responsible for its introduction. We should reach the centre of the Green Man roundabout, Leytonstone around 9.45am. We expect to reach the County Hotel, Oak Hill at 10.45am, and the Warren Pond Car Park, Chingford at about mid-day. We will take lunch at the Robin Hood P.H., which, we should reach around 1.30pm.and leave there at about 2.30pm. We should arrive at Bell Common, Epping by 4.30 pm. Walkers can join and leave the walk at will but will need to arrange lifts or study public transport options.
